Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Bored of just running I've been coerced by a "friend" to compete in my first ever triathlon. In time honoured fashion, I'm collecting money for charity.
My chosen charity this year is Macmillan Cancer Support.
Everyone is affected by cancer in their lives, either directly, or indirectly through friends and family. Hopefully, soon there will be a cure, but while there are still many aggresive cancers we cannot treat, those that are affected need the best support they can get, which is where Macmillan step in - offering high quality care and support to those that are inflicted with the disease.
More information on Macmillan can be found on their website here.
I can't believe it's been 12 years since I lost my Grandad, Harry, to cancer, and just a couple of months ago, I also lost a good friend from university, David Rudkin, shortly after his 30th birthday. This run is dedicated to them and other friends and family who are fighting or have beaten the disease.
I know at this time of year the requests for sponsorship come thick-and-fast, which is why I am only setting a modest target - anything you can give will be greatfully received and if I pass the target then I'll have done a good job (if I finish the race I'll have done an even better job).
Thank you all in advance for your kind donations.
Matt
