Hello everyone!

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. Below is my story why I am running the British 10k London Run. 

So I took part in the 5K Big Fun run on 26th October 2014 and raised just over £250 exceeding my goal (thank you everyone!). So I plan to run 10K in London, 10th July 2016 and raise double the money for Epilepsy Research UK. 

In 2008 my younger brother Trey was diagnosed with Epilepsy on a family holiday. The first year of his diagnosis was very difficult for him and the rest of the family. Trey was born with a congenital heart defect which required 5 operations and on top of that Trey is affected by Down's syndrome, a heart problem and brain damage. With all his other health issues, then being diagnosed with Epilepsy we were very worried for his safety. His seizures are nocturnal the aftermath often leave Trey in pain and very tired, however he would always push himself to go to school. Trey has come on leaps and bounds since 2008 and has never let his conditions affect his bubbly personality.

In December 2013, I lost a very close friend suddenly after she had an epileptic fit. It was a devastating time for all that knew her, like Trey she never let her condition affect her day to day life.

Despite many people suffering from the condition, there is very little public awareness about the condition. Epilepsy Research UK supports and promotes basic and clinical scientific research into the causes, treatments and prevention of epilepsy; and is the only national charity in the UK that funds independent research exclusively into this condition.
