Dear Family and Friends,

I am lacing up my running shoes and training for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in over a month’s time. What makes this challenge so special to me is that I am running in support of Friends of Colombia for Social Aid (FOCSA), a UK registered charity which raises funds to support children’s hospitals and institutions in Colombia. 

On 13 October 2019, I will be running to support the purchase of essential and specialised medical equipment for the paediatrics unit at the Hernando Moncaleano Hospital in Neiva, Huila. This hospital is the main provider of high-complexity care for a population of over 2.2 million, treating around 2.300 urgent and acute paediatric cases every month, in an area that extends to the departments of Huila, Tolima, Caquetá, Putumayo and Cauca in the south-central region of Colombia.
