Story

On 5th September BGI's Fixed Income team will be entering a dragon boat in The Great River Race.
Also known as London's river marathon, the race involves a 22 mile paddle upstream from Docklands to Richmond.   The crew consists of 16 oarsmen and a drummer, and includes JB, Fergie, Clarkey, Garth, Iris and myself.  In preparation for the big day, we've been training hard in Millwall Dock, including the obligatory capsized drills - just in case!  (Bearing in mind the lovely Thames conditions - http://www.thames-rrc.org/news/display-article/article/raw-sewage-in-the-thames-tideway/?tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=1&cHash=bb74432281)
We are looking to raise funds for BGI's three house charities:
Macmillan Cancer Care, who provide nurses and care facilities for people with cancer
Dreams Come True, for terminally and seriously ill children
Wednesday's  Child, which supports small local projects which help children and young people in need in the London area
We would be grateful for any donations, simply click on the link below.  The great news is that both BGI and Barclays have agreed to match all the money we raise so this is a great way to give!
Very many thanks,
Harps
Below is the link to the event in case you fancy giving it a go next year!   And if you're near the river on 5th September, please come and support.  We'll be dressed as pirates (and maybe a couple of sailors) so shouldn't be hard to spot!
