Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you are probably aware...the Aspinall family are embarking on a Round The World trip for three months, jetting off on June 26th. We are taking our three children..Billy 9, Jack 7, and Maddie 4 on a fantastic journey of adventure, discovery and some real life changing events. Part of our trip is helping out with the Children of Watamu in Kenya, a fantastic charity set up by Sue Hayward. She has since built 3 schools and a newly opened Happy House ( orphanage with lots and lots of love and smiles). We will be visiting Watamu in August at the tail end of our trip to help in the Happy House for a couple of weeks. So what we want to do is raise as much money as possible before we go so we can present tham with a big big cheque. The money will be used for medical supplies..malaria testing kits and tablets, vaccinations and general supplies.

WE DID IT!!!! Completed our first Sprint Series Triathlon...it was SO hard ( well for me it was) but we stuck together and completed it in 2hrs 13mins, so not bad. The reason for doing it kept me focused and determined to complete it...all for Children of Watamu. Nearly reached our target now...just need a little bit more..every little bit helps us get to that £500 mark!!!

Oh, and did get naked the other weekend...with 500 other people and Spencer Tunick and his camera! It was brilliant! It was a very surreal experience but liberating and quite unique. There is an exhibition at the Lowry this summer but not sure I should tell you that!!

To help you dig deep into your pockets we are doing a couple of fundraising events:

1. Me and Ed have been training hard for the Wilmslow Sprint Series Triathlon on May 9th- 400m swim, 24km bike ride and 6.8km run. This is our first ( and hopefully not last) triathlon and it will be hard, but we intend to get a good time and the fact we are raising lots of money for Children of Watamu keeps us spurred on.

2. The second event I am doing, and this is even madder than the triathlon, is I am hopefully taking part in Spencer Tunicks art work...for those who don't know who he is...he's the guy who take photos of naked people on a MASS basis..500 at a time. It is happening the weekend of 1st May...at a very secret location in Salford ( glamorous I know), so secret I don't even know where it will be until the day.

So two mad events that you can sponsor us for, and please please do sponsor us. It is a fantastic charity that we are really proud to be invovled with and feel very priveleged to be able to go out to Watamu to help in whatever way we can..which the charity actively encourages people to do.

The childrens school, Markland Hill, have also been fundraising since before Christmas and it has been lovely watching the childrens interest in the charity.

We sponsor a child already, Samson aged 7, who was brought to the Happy House with his sister Lily 5 and Pendo 3. Their dad died just after Pendo was born and their Mum then left them with a disabled Grandmawho did her best but just couldn't cope. Very very sad, but they have setteld into the Happy House beautifully thanks to the amazing work being done over there. We want to raise as much as we can to help them sustain the work they are doing and the lives they are changing.
