Story

Training updates can be found at end of this page.

I DID IT!!   Finished it in 6 hours 13 minutes so was around my target time and it was truly a great day!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Virgin London Marathon for the first time in 2010. For those who haven't met me this is a big challlenge as I am only 5ft so my short little legs aren't designed for long distance running!

On the more serious side, I am trying to raise as much money as possible for a local charity, Farleigh Hospice.

They provide an invaluble care service to patients and their families in the Chelmsford and mid Essex area, from day care, home care, in patient care to respite care,  however to continue to do this they need to raise £6500 per day to operate (over £2m a year) from the kindess and generosity of people.

Sadly, all of us have been touched through family and friends by cancer or other life limiting conditions and some of us couldn't manage with the help and support provided by hospices.  So I would ask to you to consider a donation for this very worthwhile charity.  My intial target is £2500 but I am going to try and aim for £6500 - a full days operating cost.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.   I will keep you updated on my training from couch potato to Forest Gump!

Thank you

Michelle

The training is going quite well, I am now up to 13 miles although I am a little bit slower than Paula Radcliffe, at an average pace of 4.5 miles an hour! Still an improvement on only thing I could run before was a bath.

And really hate the snow now!! too much time inside and on the treadmill.  Hope it is dry for the weekend.

Oh no, the training has taken a bit of a backward step. I had managed to avoid coughs and colds until two weeks ago when the dreaded cough and cold arrived (obvisuoly not the near fatal man flu as struggled on with the training!) which first of all meant carrying lots of tissues around with me then having problems breathing aso mileage has reduced a bit.  Half marathon in Norfolk next weekend when hopefully the cough will be a distant memory. if I can do 18 miles the week after I am back on track and will be fine.

New best friends are defintely ultra balm tissues and neoprene knee supports!

Very pleased that this couch potato feels a lot fitter than she has done for a long time..more low fat french fry than chunky chip!

Broadland Half Marathon compelted this weekend. Completed in 2 hours 38 minutes whcih I was very pleased with and am beginningto feel positive about next month now.  But whoever said Norfolk was flat is lying!!    Only down side is the man with the ironing board strapped to his back (seriously) beat my time by some way- if I had known I would have rbought some ironing for him to do till it finished!

Well it is the last weekend before the big day and I am about as ready as I can be - admittedly it will be a more sedate pace than Paula Radcliffe, well I wouldn't want to embarass her!  Target time is just over 6 hours barring any injury and I am confident that I can finish before they let cars back on the course and ahead of the man in the deep sea diving suit.

Thank you for taking the time to visit (and read!) this page- without your support I couldn't do this.
