Story

Hi, I am Miya and I am 10 years old. I was diagnosed with arthritis and Uveitis just before my second birthday. Originally it was detected by pain and swelling of my joints that was controlled with methotrexate and steroid infusions. Unfortunately a common thing with my condition is also Uveitis which we have struggled to control with methotrexate and eye drops since my diagnosis only coming off for a matter of months to be put back on due to flaring again so now i have been also having Humira for the last 9 months which alongside methotrexate has enabled me to come off all my eye drops. Over the years my condition has been controlled with medication consisting of Methotrexate, Humira, Steroid eye drops, pressure drops, Folic acid, Steroid infusions and many other medications and painkillers. I also have regular blood tests every 2 months and currently I am having methotrexate injections every Monday and Humira Injections every other Wednesday and have folic acid daily to reduce hair loss due to methotrexate. Last week I was able to come off my eye drops for the first time in 2 years but I have to continue to have Methotrexate and Humira for at least 2 years longer flare free. Before I can be considered suitable to come off my medication. Because of my Uveitis I also have Glaucoma in my eyes so although I may be able to reduce my medication I may never be able to come off it completely.

As a small thank you to the CCAA who are a Charity that help children like myself and families with children that suffer with all types of juvenile arthritis I would like to try and raise £1500 by Climbing Scafell Pike England's highest mountain. The climb is 978 metres around 3208 feet in order to help this charity to keep helping others like myself. I will be climbing Scafell next summer. My mum and step dad will be taking me and my brother to The Lake District in Cumbria on Holiday so that I can make The climb with my step dad Tom and also so that none of the money raised would need to go towards the travelling or accommodation as that is already booked as a family holiday.

So please if you can spare anything please sponsor me and help me raise money for this fantastic charity and awareness of Arthritis in children. Could you also please share my page I would really appreciate it thank you Miya.
