I am entering the Great North Run to raise funds for kidney research. I have chosen this cause because a very, very close friend of mine has just undergone  a successful kidney transplant. ( thanks to her fantastic brother- Rob- the donor).

This summer has brought the devasting news that her gorgeous daughter also has the same kidney condition which could ulimately lead to the need for a transplant. ( another fantastic brother has offered a kidney!).

Research into this disease is absolutely essential - there will be cases where there aren't fantastic brothers around to act as donors.
