We have been going to Syria every 6 to 8 weeks to help the devastated families in Damascus. 

We are running Medical / Dental and Optical camps providing free treatment and advice to the widows and orphans in Damascus. 

We have been providing monthly food parcels for the widow and orphan families. 

Last visit it was a rainy few days causing potholes because of poor drainage system following the destruction resulting from civil war. We happen to notice the children running around bare feet as not having any footwear thus exposing them to illnesses so we took some of the children to a shoe shop and paid for shoes of their choice. As December visit was in the winter months we bought heaters for the orphan and needy families and also provided for the heating costs to get over the cold months. 

We are again travelling on 8th March and this time hope to provide help to the needy in Homs if conditions are favourable to travel. One thing I have learnt having been this many times in the last year is that rather than carrying second hand clothes or our unwanted items and sometimes pay for extra luggage it is better to buy new clothes / shoes / heaters etc which are cheaper there and thus give the local shop owners some business as well. That goes a long way to also help the economy and financial status of the locals.
