Hello everyone thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
People often ask me how i got into charity walking so here's my story. Way back in 2009 after watching comedian Eddie Izzard on TV complete an incredible 43 marathons in 51 days i was feeling inspired. So inspired that in the next three years myself and workmate Tony Cliss conquered walks along the North Norfolk Coast ,Hadrian's Wall and Dorset's Jurassic Coast raising £2000 for Barnardo's and around £3,500 for the amazing Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. We met some fantastic people along the way but the ultimate highlight was being invited to Great Ormond Street to visit a ward, chat to nurses and see the improvements being made with all the money raised. As a father of two children myself i found it a very emotional experience to see parents sitting at the bedside of their pride and joy. It could have been one of my children lying there and even though it wasn't that was the moment i decided that i would always try to raise money for them. The harsh reality is life or death for many of the children without the specialist treatment or equipment that fundraising brings .Having a child with any kind of health issues can be an emotional, stressful and lonely time for families and it's great to be in a position to make a difference to someone's life. Last year I returned for walk number 4 after a 2 year hiatus, but this time without Tony in the daunting London To Cambridge 62mile Ultra Challenge. Fate decided that I wasn't going to be solo for too long and just a few miles in I met the lovely Jo King ( the worlds most friendly lady !!! ) and crazy challenge junkie Darren Wharton. We got on well have kept in touch and all being well we should be meeting up to do it all again on the South Coast this year!!! I also unexpectedly broke my fundraising record with an incredible £2040 bringing the grand total to over £7,500 pounds. This is the part where you come in because your kindness and generosity can help me help a poorly child it's really that simple. Maybe you can join me on walk number 6 next time? They really are one of the most rewarding and satisfying things you can ever be involved in. But I'm getting ahead of myself here let me get through number 5 first. It's going to be the toughest one yet - Eastbourne to Arundel a 62 mile continuous trek with hills. Wish me luck I'm going to need it !!!!!!
