Story

My friend, Stewart Wilson, member of Stirling Rotary Club and former owner of Stewart Wilson Cycles in Stirling is cycling right round New Zealand's North Island to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease charity, MND Scotland (http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/). Stewart has a strong, personal motivation for raising money for this cause. His mother died of Motor Neurone Disease aged 66.

Stewart's planning to cover up to 2000 miles, over approximately a month starting on 6th Feb. He's cycling right round North Island, camping each night. Stewart's connection with New Zealand goes back to the very beginning. He was born there, but has lived most of his life in Scotland. He's funding the trip himself, including all travel and accommodation, so all money raised will go to the charity.

Motor Neurone Disease is the name given to a related group of diseases affecting the motor neurones of the nervous system, commonly referred to as MND (or ALS), which are degenerative, progressive and incurable.

Former Rangers star, Fernando Ricksen, has the condition, and a tribute match attended by more than 40,000 took place recently at Ibrox Stadium. Former Celtic legend, Jimmy Johnstone, died of the condition in 2006.

MND Scotland provides a range of support services and funds research. It would be great if you could support this worthy cause. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.

Stirling Rotary Club is supporting Stewart's fundraising efforts.
