Story
In June 2011 we will be joining 16 colleagues from HSBC in climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. At 5895m, Kilimanjaro also known as ‘The Roof of Africa’ represents a significant physical and mental challenge.
We are embarking on this gruelling challenge in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care, this is a fantastic charity that provides outstanding care for terminally ill patients across the UK. Marie Curie nurses now care for around 50 per cent of all cancer patients who die at home. They work through the night or during the day to provide care for patients in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of their own home. They also provide practical and emotional support for carers and families at what can be an exhausting time. Marie Curie Nursing is always free of charge to patients and carers. Every £20 raised provides one hour of specialist care for a family.
For us personally it will be a massive challenge getting anywhere near the fitness level needed to climb Kilimanjaro but we are 100% committed to the challenge and will give every last bit of energy and strength we have to reach the summit. It will certainly be worth the pain when we hand that cheque over to the wonderful people at Marie Curie on our return.
Please dig deep and give whatever you can, it is much appreciated.
