World Medicine is a charitable organisation which provides complementary and alternative healthcare to people around the world suffering the effects of trauma, disaster and poverty. Since its inception in 2005, it has run projects in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Palestine, as well as running an ongoing sustainable project in an orphanage in India... fantastic work, I am sure you'll agree; however little known and little funded. As an Acupuncturist and Naturopath, I am more than aware of the amazing difference World Medcine's work makes and, so, I am embarking on a crazy fitness training regime in the hope of completing the grueling trek to the highest peak in Africa, to help raise funds for and highlight the good work of World Medicine.

4,000 people attempt to climb Kilimanjaro every year, although only 1,400 actually reach the top of the 5,895 metre peak. Around 100 climbers die of altitude sickness on the mountain every year, so it will be no walk in the park!
