Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
A few weeks ago I decided to Run Gatwick Half Marathon for charity, having never competed in any running event in my life.
The charity I am choosing to support is Crawley Open House. The work they do is unbelievable in actively reducing homelessness in Crawley, an area that has the second highest homelessness level in Sussex. They have been serving the homeless and vulnerable in the area since 1994, and in this time they have managed to resettle between 50% and 60% of their hostel residents to somewhere more permanent and appropriate.
In December, Shelter announced that the number of homeless people that have died in last 5 years has increased by 24%. To make matter worse, just recently Crawley Open House has taken a huge hit in losing their funding from West Sussex County Council, potentially putting more vulnerable people at risk.
My family, and in particular my dad, have had an active role in Crawley Open House for as long as I can remember. I have loved getting involved since I was young, but now I’m excited to take on my biggest challenge yet and complete a half marathon. Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity, to allow them to continue protecting the vulnerable people in our area.
In the next few weeks I will be revealing my ‘Dare Menu’, where you can donate on this page and in return see me do some embarrassing and funny challenges... watch this space!
