Being widowed or losing your partner young changes everything.  There's nowhere to turn.  No one understands.  You feel lost.

Widowed and Young is a charity that supports anyone that has lost a partner before their 51st birthday.  I was lucky to find the charity after a recommendation from a bereavement counsellor.

I really wasn't sure WAY would be for me.  But I'm very glad I found WAY.  The realisation that I wasn't alone in how I was feeling, that what I was experiencing was 'normal', and being able to talk to and spend time with others that just understood and just 'get it' was an invaluable first step as I began the long journey of coming to terms with the sad reality of my new 'normal'.

Fundraising for charities has been hard hit during the COVID crisis, and I'm taking part in WAY's 'Give WAY to summer' fundraising challenge to help raise vital funds.  But it's not all about the fundraising.   It's also about raising awareness that the charity exists - to make sure that other's that find themselves bereaved far too young can find the support they need.

So I'm walking / running through this summer to raise vital funds and awareness......I've challenged myself to run or walk 1000KM from 1st July to 30 September - and plan to run 2 half marathons a month (injury permitting!!).
