Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the justgiving page for Jason, Lorraine, Al, Constanza & Sally's New Hope Centre Project.
8 000 children are orphaned monthly in Swaziland due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic as parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles and aunts are dying from the 42.6% HIV infection rate. These children are often left stranded living alone in the abandoned desolate homestead, or living with strangers who abuse them and use them as unpaid labour.
Whilst surrounding nations like South Africa and Botswana have governments with resources able to provide child support, the Swaziland Government is not able to do so.
The New Hope Centre, founded in 2002, provides a permanent home for up to 60 of these orphaned and abandoned children, raising them with the love and education they deserve. In August 2010, a volunteer team from St Pauls Hammersmith will be working with the New Hope Centre to organise and run two short beach holidays for the children at the New Hope Centre. We hope you will be able to support us in this project, and help us to provide these children with the chance of what for many will be their first ever holiday.
