Niall and Sarah Edwards are cycling with Karen Bennett and Carola Hillenbrand over 200 miles from London to Paris along the “Avenue Verte” route to raise money for a great cause – Emma’s Breast Cancer Million appeal for Walk the Walk! Our brave friend Emma Falk (nee Pontin) has survived breast cancer but is now challenged with incurable bone cancer. She’s set herself a fund raising target of £1M for Walk the Walk and in February completed an Arctic Cross Country Skiing Marathon. Emma had organised our London to Paris ride but sadly had to pull out from riding herself in early April as she was diagnosed as needing to start regular chemo over the next 6 months. Karen, Niall, Carola and I decided to carry on with her plan and hope that everyone will get behind us in supporting Walk the Walk’s research grants and care projects for breast cancer. We’ll be setting off from London on Saturday 23rd May for Newhaven, crossing to Dieppe on Sunday morning and then after 150 miles pedalling will arrive in Paris for our destination Notre Dame Cathedral at lunch time on Tuesday before boarding Eurostar for a relaxing journey home.
Note: We've planned and paid for all aspects of the trip ourselves - booking the accommodation, ferry and train. Karen's husband has very kindly offered to be our support driver - carrying our bags, spare bike and supplies. This means every penny we raise goes to the charity and not to a middle-man travel company.
