Story
On August 14th this year I am taking part in a swimming challenge for Aspire, the spinal injuries charity. The challenge will be based in the beautiful Gwynant Valley, overlooked by the magnificent Mount Snowdon. We will be swimming in Llyn Gywnant (see picture), and I am hoping to swim 3 miles in the morning and 2 miles in the afternoon. Although I'm training at the moment the additional challenge will be swimming in open water, and even in August the lake is likely to be pretty chilly.
Please sponsor me if you can, and I will promise not to post a picture of me in a wet-suit!
Every year approximately 1200 people become paralysed after suffering spinal cord injuries, meaning that most will be wheelchair users for the rest of their lives. Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work-places and in leisure time.
N.B. I have paid for the full cost of the trip, so all donations made via this page will go directly to supporting the work of Aspire.
