Story
Hi. Thanks for reading my fund raising page. I have decided to take on a truly daunting cycling challenge. A 679km bike ride as part of the Dallaglio Cycle Slam team. My ride is from Rome to Nice over 5 days cycling; although Lawrence is then continuing from Nice all the way up to Edinburgh over 5 different stages. The full extend of my madness is described below with some short but painfully descriptive words on what lies ahead - and not far enough ahead - and with Christmas in between. If that wasn't enough, it is all taking place in February. To my experience the Alps in February were meant for skiiing, not cycling, although at least cycling will be better for my knees.
Aside from what I am sure will be an enormous amount of pain and fun in distortedly unbalanced doses, my main goal is to help Laurence raise £1m which will be split evenly between Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation, whose beneficiaries include Cancer Research, DebRA, Leukaemia Reaseach, Help for Heroes and the RPA Benevolent Fund. Some fantastic causes. More information on this and the ride is available at www.dallagliocycleslam.com
Please donate as much as possible.
Rome to Nice - 679 km
Day 1 - 117 Km
A really tough start to the challenge.
Day 2 - 167 Km
Another really tough day will begin at Bolsena and finish in SanGimignano. 167km is a huge distance.
Day 3 - 135 Km
Leaving San Gimignano for the coast today. Luckily today’s 135km is mostly flat apart from a tough climb around Lucca.
Day 4 - 139 Km
‘King of the Mountains’ day today! A REALLY tough start
Day 5 - 121 Km
Flat all the way today and an awful lot of coastline.
