On April 21 2013 I will be one of the 3 runners taking part in the Virgin London Marathon, running for Jersey Hospice Care.  I am very honoured to have been allocated one of the places and I am committed do all that I can to raise as much money for this fantastic charity.  I’m training hard, fitting it around a busy job and my triplet 8 year olds and these wintery mornings and evenings are proving challenging to get motivated to get out there and train!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Jersey Hospice Care, it is an amazing organisation in Jersey that provides specialist palliative nursing services, providing holistic care, free of charge, for patients with cancer and motor neurone disease. The Hospice provides invaluable services to the local community here in Jersey including home care, day hospice care, in patient services, therapies and bereavement counseling. Although it costs more than £2 million to run the Hospice every year, it receives no funding from the States of Jersey and relies entirely on the generosity of the public.

I have friends and colleagues who have benefitted from the care that Jersey Hospice provides and it is in their memory that I am running and fund raising.
