Story
Over the last year or so I have become aware of the incredible work that Princess Alice Hospice do. I learnt about their kindness and unstinting support in the wider community through my lovely friend Pippa, who tragically lost her battle with cancer last October. I learnt about their compassion and understanding through the loving in-patient care shown to Jack, the precious 23 year old son of my friend Jane, who also passed away in October. Their support to both families has been unparalleled.
I went to PAH with Pippa last year after I ran the London Marathon, also to raise funds for them. I was so impressed with the unique care they provide in our local community, that I wanted to continue to support them particularly as only 25% of their funding is NHS provided, the rest (£16,500 per day) is achieved through fundraising. All their services are provided free of charge, so raising money is vital to enable them to continue their fantastic work.
Unable to face another marathon(!), I have decided to trek up Machu Picchu in May. Briefly this involves a 6 day trek at altitudes up to 4500m and camping overnight en route. I will be meeting ALL the costs of the trip so your donations will go in full, direct to Princess Alice. I know that we are constantly being asked to support good causes, so I am all the more grateful for any support you feel able to give.
