The 3 UK Peaks Challenge is a renowned event where it's participants aim to climb the UK's 3 highest peaks (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike) within a 24 Hour period. This involves a total ascent of almost 3000m, a distance on foot of approx 40km, one climb in the dark and no sleep!

I am undertaking this crazy event to celebrate my 50th year of existence on this planet but much more importantly to raise much needed awareness and funds for the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's (the NACC), see www.nacc.org.uk

Colitis and Crohn's are inflammortory bowel diseases which last alifetime and for which there is no cure. They can strike at any age but most commonly begin in children and young adults. Around 240,000 people in the UK have these conditions (including my wife Claire) and more are diagnosed each year. Symtoms can include relentless diarrhoea, bleeding, severe pain, exhaustion, eye skin and joint problems and in the case of children, impaired growth. The conditions can therefore have a devastating impact on education, work, social and family life.

The NACC is the major UK charity offering information and support to people affected by these conditions yet only 15% of their costs are met by membership subscriptions. Therefore the charity relies very heavily on it's supporters and your help with this will give a direct benefit to their work.
