Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I appreciate there are lots of requests for sponsorship out there and a number of people I know have completed some amazing feats recently such as Cycling Across Britain, running the 2018 London Marathon in record breaking temperatures and even the toughest marathon out there, the Marathon de Sabre.

The challenge I picked out was the Kilimanjaro trek, which I recently undertook with around 40 others from Deloitte.

The whole trek was an amazing experience, with the final leg on summit night something that I will never forget, in terms of the physical exhaustion, the freezing conditions, the altitude and the significant mental challenge in reaching the summit!
The team of 41 from Deloitte provided great support and unity and did fantastically well overall with a summit rate of 90%.

I committed to raising £2,500 for a firm charity (Action for Children), which due to the extraordinary generosity of my work colleagues, I have already achieved.  With gift aid and the firm's matched funding, this already means in excess of £4,600 for this charity.

However, in the hope ot tapping into the "sponsorship" budget of family and friends (and any work colleagues who missed out the first time or would like to sponsor me again!), I would also like to raise some money for a charity which is very close to my heart.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Charitable Fund, is a charity where donations are used for lots of good causes such as supporting research into rare forms of bone cancer, updating gym equipment for physiotherapy, the development of more junior care staff and improving the hospital environment for patients.  I have been a patient at this hospital for 18 years with a very rare bone cancer condition called clear cell chondrosarcoma, which originally arose in my left patella (turns out you can function pretty well without a kneecap) and for the last eight years has been present in my lungs.  Amazingly, my illness is under control as the cancer has not grown for seven years.  Long may that continue....

I am very excited about this trek and hopeful that I can raise a lot of money for this charity too.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks in advance.
