Story

Thankyou for swinging by my donations page!

This May I’ll be heading to Nepal climbing 5,380 metres above sea level over 130km and 14 days to Everest base camp! It’s a privilege to be able to travel in this part of the world, and to complete the base camp trek has been an ambition of mine for a good few years! But it’s gonna be tough! I’m feeling excited and determined, but it’s not THE most relaxing way to spend my holiday time, nor will it be easy, infact I’m sure there are days I will HATE my life and think I’m crazy! 😂 So! In anticipation of those harder moments, I thought it’d be a nice idea to have something to focus on to keep me positive and pushing onwards, so I’d like to try and raise a little bit of money for a worthy cause at the same time. Hopefully the thought of the donations made and faith shown in me by those who’ve done so will spur me on when I feel dreadful!

I’ve decided to split my fundraising between two charities, both of which are excellent causes. The first is the Newcastle based children’s foundation, close to home, and who I actually used to do a lot of fundraising for with my school choirs (see above photo!) they may have missed that money coming in the last few years with me being away cruising, so perhaps this will make up for it! You can read more info on their objectives below and understand why I value the importance of their work. The second is a Nepalese children’s charity called the Nepal Youth Foundation. We’re so privileged here in the UK, and already have SO much, I wanted to give something back to the community that’s actually hosting me. Nepal are still reeling in many ways from the 2015 earthquake which claimed 9000 lives, and has had a huge negative impact on infrastructure and those already marginalised or living in poverty.  So I’d really like to raise a bit of money to be able to give both a little bit (my Nepal fundraising page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Nikki-Cunningham1) or you can find it by following the “team” link at the top of the page under the big red button.

It is entirely up to you which page you support! If you’re here reading and considering it, it’d be very kind of you if one really sticks out to you! Or, if you can, splitting your pennies between the two would be amazing, I’d really love it if I could give a little bit of money to everyone.  Thanks for reading, lots of love, and wish me luck!! 😁🤞😘 NAMASTE 🙏 🇳🇵
