We offer emotional and practical support to help sufferers of asbestos conditions

Story

My husband John died on the 14th of April 2012 after being diagnosed with the asbestos related disease Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a disease caused by exposure to asbestos dust; in John's case from an unknown source.

Asbestos Action Tayside (AAT) is a Scottish Charity that has been set up to assist sufferers of asbestos related diseases covering the North East of Scotland. They are a voluntary, not-for-profit, organisation, set up to provide practical and emotional support and advice. After a phonecall, charity worker Alison Blake, visited us the very next day and provided continuous support to John and myself from that first day until his passing.

In the UK approximately 2000 people each year are diagnosed with Mesothelioma and In the North East of Scotland there were approximately 60 new cases of asbestos related diseases diagnosed within the last 2 months alone. AAT want to ensure that a person diagnosed with an asbestos condition have access to the vital support they need.

As it was John's wish that I try and do something after his death to help Asbestos Action Tayside, I would therefore ask you, on John's behalf, if you would please give a little this year to this charity. AAT are not supported by the government, yet the support they provide can make an enormous difference to those suffering, and to their families.

Thank you

Norma Drury
