Story
Hundreds of lawyers will be walking in Nottingham to raise funds for Law Centres and other legal advice charities based in the Midlands on 24 September 2009. There will be teams from the Courts and Tribunals, firms, chambers, in-house legal departments and law colleges.
This is the inaugural walk and we want to smash Birmingham's total last year of £12,000. The walk will raise funds for social welfare legal advice charities such as law centres in the Midlands. These organisations prevent people from being made homeless. They ensure that old people receive proper home care and the benefits they need to stay warm and fed. They help families in debt and young people facing destitution. They challenge social injustice and exploitation and they need your help because they are badly under funded. The walk also generates funds for the advice centres’ support bodies and for organisations providing help and representation at Court and Tribunals.
