Story
The Nowzad charity is currently working towards a range of initiatives and programmes to improve animal welfare in Afghanistan.
All of our goals are not just about benefiting the animals that have no voice but also to educate and advance the welfare of the Afghan people.
Currently Afghanistan has an epidemic stray dog problem. Temporary programmes to reduce the dog population by poisoning and shooting are proven ineffective methods. As a charity we intend to introduce a trial ‘trap-neuter-release’ programme in one of the main cities of Afghanistan. This will have the added benefit of combating one of the more deadly diseases that inhabits Afghanistan and affects both people and animals – rabies.
A feral dog’s life is hard and short. Surviving on just the scraps of food that they can scavenge from the streets, they live an existence a million miles away from the pampered lifestyles of the majority of their western cousins. With unbearable hot summers and savagely cold winters the prospects are not good for an Afghan dog.
Sadly this all takes money to put in place. The Nowzad team are all unpaid volunteers so all monies you donate goes directly where it is intended. Thank you for your support.
