Story
Our baby Son Oliver died on the 19th May 2014 in his Daddy's arms after a 6 month battle with a condition called chronic lung disease.
This condition meant that Oliver needed constant oxygen support. This support mostly took the form of a CPAP machine. This machine would deliver oxygen to Oliver with a constant pressure through a mask that was tightly strapped to his nose.
For one hour a day Oliver would be put onto a Vapourferm machine. This machine would also deliver oxygen to Olly under pressure but through a nasal canulea not a mask. As you can see from the picture above this is a much more comfortable form of ventilation. Unfortunatly the vapourferm machine wasn't as efficient as the CPAP at delivering the pressure that Olly needed, hence he could only be on it for an hour a day.
This hour was life changing for Olly. He could be a normal baby, having bottles, playing on his play mat, he could see and experience the world better, we could see more of his beautiful face, sit in his bouncy chair and generally be more comfortable without the constant pressure of the CPAP mask on his face.
It would be lovely to think that your kind contributions in lieu of flowers at the funeral would go some way to fund a Vapourferm machine. We have put a target amount on the page in the hope that we will raise enough but we are preparing to fund raise in the future if necessary to reach our ultimate goal.
Nothing will heal the pain of losing baby Oliver but perhaps helping other babies in the way Oliver was helped will help us feel more positive on years to come.
Thank you for all of your love and support through this difficult time. Special thanks to Adi and Amanda for their love and for setting up this Just Giving page xx
