Story
Dad was the inspiration for Steve and I to take up sport with Dad having a long career as a sports groundsman and a football referee. In Dad's final years, he experienced the effects of a stroke and subsequently dementia so there are several very worthwhile causes we could have chosen to raise funds for. However, the care Dad received at the Princess Alice Hospice (P.A.H) and the support given to us as a family made it an easy decision. Our memories of Dad's last few weeks are very special, made possible by the kind and caring people at the P.A.H. Simple gestures such as the nurses wheeling Dad's bed into the courtyard so he could smell the fresh air and see the flowers meant so much to all of us.
P.A.H. relies on the local community to generate 77% of it's income through fundraising, retail operations, donations and legacies. The cost of providing services in 2013/2014 was £9.1 million.
Jamie, Steve, Dave and I want to do our bit to help with the ongoing fundraising effort and would like you to make a donation, however small, for this well-deserving charity. Apart from Jamie, the rest of us are hardly "spring chickens" and will definitely find this a challenge! With your support in mind and Dad in our hearts, we will keep our thoughts firmly on the finishing post at the Eiffel Tower.
For every £1 donated to P.A.H., 84p is spent on delivering care and support, 11p is spent on fundraising to secure further donations and 5p is spent on management and administration.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
