Story
Thank you for visiting my page.
I am raising money for Birthlink UK which helps doctors, nurses and midwives in disadvantaged countries. Currently 4 million babies die worldwide in the first 28 days of their life. To help raise money I am completing the hardest stage of this years Tour de France, Stage 19:"Even by the brutal standards of the 2015 Tour route, this stage stands out as a sadistic piece of route planning by the race organisers. "
I have signed up for the legendary ‘Etape Du Tour’ on the 19th July 2015. This is the hardest climbing stage of this year’s Tour de France which will be ridden by the pro tour 3 days after us. The course is 138km long but critically will include for 4,000m of climbing starting at Saint-Jean-De-Maurienne and finishing in La Toussuire Les Sybelles. To put this in perspective it will be the equivalent of going up box hill in Surrey 26 times.

I have anticipated/budgeted that I will be in the saddle for 7 hours and have been training since Christmas 2014.
When considering whether to sponsor me please take into consideration the magnitude of this challenge in comparison to other events such as a marathon.
Birthlink UK was established by a neonatal nurse practitioner and two midwives to provide support and education to doctors, nurses and midwives in disadvantaged countries where maternal and new-born care is severely compromised by lack of education and basic resources. The charity aims to improve the care of mothers and their new-born babies and reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.
