Story

Snowdon the final hurdle: The Clock had stopped and we needed to complete the climb up and down Snowdon in 5 hours....... We had learnt our logistical lessons from Ben Nevis and Scaffell Pike we were determined and ready for the off.

Sunday Morning 3.30am ... wake up, final kit check, eat slow release energy meal and ready for the off at 4am. Simple aim... drive 5 hours to Snowdon, park, walk 5 hours and drive 5 hours back ... what could be simpler? .... hint for others thinking of doing this ... check route carefully if you are travelling from different start points, agree meeting point and make sure your collegues have not over indulged in England world cup celebrations the night before .... I'll tell you all about it over a .... pint !!

Having picked the hardest climb for Ben Nevis and really suffered we pick the gentler start for Snowdon but this was the much longer route ..... was this to be our undoing as we needed to complete in 5 hours? NO surely not... nothing could stop us even the cloud cover .. but who knows where we were or where we were supposed to go ... was it luck or was it the cunning plan to stick close to that bloke up there coz he seems well kitted out and seems to know where he's going ... hang on a minute he's going down !

Time to take control. This way lads, head for the clouds its bound to be up here.... getting to the top was a fantastic feeling and actually really civilised - nothing like Ben Nevis there is actually a cafe up here and guess what a train!

My job race the train back down ..... after a quick cup of tea I headed for the path down, the heavens opened and it became really trecherous BUT not being able to stop meant I could make a good time if not a record time ... decend completed in 1 hour 5 minutes ... it was complete a job well down and 55 minutes within schedule. OK not a continuous 24 hours, due to the bank holiday debacle, but 24 hours all the same.

A really big thank you to you all for your encouragement and really generous support. It kept me going, kept me focused and kept my mind on why we do this.

Around £900 (NINE HUNDRED) raised for The Lourdes Pilgrimage Fund. THANK YOU.
