Story
In late 2009 my son Dominic was diagnosed with a life limiting neuromuscular condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, for me and my family our lives will never be the same. Duchenne is a progressive muscle wasting condition which at present has no cure, the shocking reality for my family and all families coping with Duchenne is that we will lose our precious boys before they have a chance to become the men they deserve to be. Action Duchenne give our family and all families dealing with this condition hope, a cure is a realistic hope and drugs which could slow the wasting process are being trialed-Action Duchenne funds research and pushes for investment which gives us hope
This year I am going to run 8 half marathons, 3 full marathons, and numerous 10k races in a bid to raise much needed funds to push forward research and if dreams come true find a cure for this devastating illness-my journey started in Reading and will end in New York in November-please help me with donations and together lets stop the wasting.
3000 miles in training, a couple of nasty injuries including kidney stones! and I am almost there-I have shed nearly five stone in weight and gone from struggling to run two miles to now running over 60 every week! when I started 10km was a struggle involving running and walking for over an hour-now it takes a little over 40 minutes! A half marathon was a bus ride-now its under one hour and thirty five on foot and a marathon was just plain stupid-some things will never change...
And I have appeared in Running and Fitness magazine!
