Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From 1st September for 21 days I will be cycling 1095 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats, mainly as a personal challenge and to prove that I am still alive, but also to try and raise some money for charity.
In February 2020 I suffered an Idiopathic Subarachnoid Haemorrhage, basically a brain haemorrhage. This is a potentially life threatening condition that occurs without warning and causes a sudden and severe headache which lasts for months. It was a distinctly unpleasant experience and one that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
I consider myself exceptionally fortunate to have survived this without any long term issues as a very large proportion of people either don’t survive it at all or have some degree of long term after effects.
Headway Portsmouth provides advice, information and practical support to assist rehabilitation, and maximise recovery and independence to local people who have suffered a brain haemorrhage and all other types of brain injury.
I will be forever grateful that I am one of the lucky ones as I didn’t need their help and have made a full recovery, but plenty of people don’t……your support is appreciated.
