Story
On 26th October myself and 3 friends are embarking on a once in a lifetime expedition to the Himalayas, and take on the challenge of reaching Mount Everest base camp. The trip is 16 days in total, 9 days ascending to base camp, and 3 days descending back to Kathmandu (+ 4 days travelling).
The trek is a real challenge which entails a hair raising landing into the worlds most dangerous airport in Lukla, sub-zero conditions as low as -20 degrees, and a real risk of altitude sickness. The expedition will culminate at Everest base camp @ 17,600ft!!!
Originally when I booked the trek in October last year I hadn't planned on fundraising, however the closer we get to departure it feels like an ideal opportunity to raise much needed funds for such a good local cause - Willowburn Hospice. I'm sure most of my friends & family in the Consett / Stanley area have had family or friends who have been supported by Willowburn over the years. The palliative care and support to families they offer relies completely on charitable donations & contributions - and without the support of the local community & businesses they wouldn't exist.
My target is to raise £2,500 for the hospice, however i'm sure with your support this can be exceeded. Every penny donated goes direct to the hospice, all contributions are greatly appreciated.
I will provide updates prior to and during the expedition (subject to Wi-Fi access) to keep you posted on the groups progress.
Thanks for your support and please give generously!!!
