Hi Freinds, Family and Colleagues.

 

Thanks for coming to this website which ive set up to raise money for my dad.

 

My dad, Laurence, was diagnosed with a terminal blood cancer (Myeloma) a few weeks ago only 8 months after retiring from a shop he ran for over 20 years. My mum has really struggled to care for him as he has been very poorly, unable to walk to the toilet at times and nearly dying in hospital of pneumonia and sceptacemia.

 

The myeloma disease which my dad has is quiet rare - only 4000 cases a year in the UK.

As with most illnesses early diagnosis is vital in limiting the extent to which it takes hold of the body. Unfortunately it took many months before my dad's illness was diagnosed correctly leading to bone, spine and liver damage.

 Fortunately, there is a little know charity, Myeloma-UK,  whose aim is to raise awareness of the disease in the medical profession as well as provide support and information for those unfortunate enough to come across it. They also fund vital research into causes and cures for the disease, which is currently not cureable.
