Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It all stated in 2011 when I decided to take part in the Great North Run carrying a 40lb bergen in aid of Help for Heroes. After finishing in a decent time and after a recovery period of weeks I thought to myself maybe I could do the same over the full marathon distance. Work, time, turning 40, life and not getting a ballot place have all got in the way since and I thought maybe it had passed me by.
Myocarditis claimed the young life of 13 year old Jamie Loncaster on 14th March 2015. Jamie was the son of Graham, Jenny and brother of Ross. I knew I had to do something as so many people have already done, both in Jamie's memory and to help Cardiac Risk in the Young with the wonderful work they do. CRY have very kindly allocated me a charity place for the 2016 race.
So on Sunday 24th April 2016 I will run the London marathon carrying a 40lb bergen. I have an idea of what time I would like to finish in (before dark you say!), but I think I will keep that too myself for now!
Training has started in earnest and I know only too well how tough it will be.
In the words of Andy Dufresne' Now you have come this far, maybe you will come a little further' and be kind enough to donate whatever you can in the aim of reaching and hopefully surpassing my target.
If you would prefer to sponsor me via text the details are:
