Story

A talk on the tides and currents in Plymouth Sound - ideal for those swimming the Breakwater Swim to get the inside info on what to expect as you swim in the 2.2 miles from the Breakwater to East Tinside.

Dave Curno will be the speaker.

The talk will comprise -
1. General principles of tides, springs/neaps, High Water / Low Water , tidal curve and tidal flows.
2. Underwater geography of Plymouth Sound.
3. Tidal flows in Plymouth Sound over the 12hr cycle.
4. Weather effects - fresh water, pressure, tidal surges.
5. Specific predicted tidal flows for the swim date.

The talk will start at 7PM but you can arrive at The Corinthians anytime from 5PM as they will open their changing rooms for us and you can swim from their slipway before the talk.

The bar will be open until 10PM and they do have a food menu but please let me know if lots of you are planning to eat as they may need some notice …………

There is no charge for attending the talk but it is a fundraiser on behalf of The Chestnut Appeal who organise the Breakwater swim so please bring a donation on the night or donate via the JustGiving page.

Thanks :-) X
