Dogs for the Disabled is an innovative and life changing charity that helps provide independence to disabled children and adults through partnership with a dog. Interestingly we were the first assistance dog charity in the UK to help disabled children as well as adults.

An assistance dog acts as a great ice-breaker enabling our clients to break out of the isolation often experienced through disability and to continue undertaking everyday practical tasks independently. No longer afraid to take on new activities our partnerships can become an active community member. For one disabled person it may simply mean being able to do a weekly shop, for another the ability to return to work, or allow a disabled mother to look after her children. A disabled child can play in the park or his dog can carry a bag home from school.

Dogs for the Disabled is working hard to help many more disabled people who could benefit from having an assistance dog. We have a long waiting list of disabled children and adults who could directly benefit from any support you were able to give.
