Story
Pete's Fundraising Bike Ride 2021 - London to Brighton.
Saturday 2nd October - (Next Saturday)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in January of this year, when the country was put on hold again, and yet again I found myself being Furloughed along with most of the Hospitality work force in the country!
Myself and my good friend Richard Evans, who I did the 3 Peaks Fundraising Challenge with a few years ago, decided this was the ideal opportunity to set ourselves another Challenge and use this time available for another good cause.
Women V Cancer, supports 3 British Charities -Breast Cancer, Jo's Cervical Cancer and Ovarian Cancer. This Years Women V Cancer, London to Brighton Cycle Challenge, have invited Male Partners and willing Males able to support this worthy cause.
Richard and I dusted off our Bike's, did a few stretches, brought some go faster Lycra, which didn't do my pot belly any favours! and set about training 3 mornings a week, come rain or shine. We quickly went from 10k a ride to 40K on a good day! Training was on track, and bottoms starting to get used to their best mate the Saddle! Pot belly was almost gone! : )
That all quickly changed when Boris decided we could return to some normality and return back to work in April, normality it wasn't! It went crazy! And all training stopped!! The original date of 4th July was postponed, with COVID precautions, and a new date set for next Saturday 2nd October.
Not having been on a bike since April, and with 3 weeks before the challenge, we finally got back on our bikes again!
This is definitely going to be a lot more painful than what we had first imagined, with the lack of training, pot belly back bigger than ever, struggling with a cold (NOT COVID)! Not a good look in the go faster - slower Lycra!
Please, Please, Please give generously, and DONATE NOW!! don't put it off till tomorrow! You will forget! DONATE NOW!! Make the pain worth the ride!
It’s a great cause, I’m sure we all know someone or have personally been affected by any of the 3 charities being sponsored by the event, that can devastate our loved ones lives.
Personal to myself as I lost my best friend to Breast Cancer many years ago.
