Story
Thank you so much for visiting our Just Giving page!
So what’s going on?
Madeleine and I are running the Brighton marathon on the 14th April 2019 in memory of our mother Emma who was affected by CVID. Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) is a type of primary immunodeficiency, which is an immune system dysfunction typically caused by a mutation in a gene or genes.
Neither of us have run a marathon before so this will be an amazing experience and an opportunity for us to help other people affected by CVID in the UK.
Our goal is to complete the Brighton Marathon (first goal!!) in around 4 hours (second goal!!) and to raise £2,000 for PID UK. No small task but with your help I’m sure we can do it.
A bit about our charity…
Our chosen charity is a UK based charity called Primary Immunodeficiency UK (PID UK). They are an organisation supporting individuals and families affected by a primary immunodeficiency in the UK. There is currently no cure for CVID, but PID UK’s aim is to help ensure that those affected by a primary immunodeficiency have the knowledge needed to manage their condition effectively and to ensure that their health needs are understood and addressed by those involved in policy and delivery of healthcare. For more information you can visit: http://www.piduk.org/
Our story so far…
We’ve both been in training since November 2018 and now with less than 2 months to go our joints are holding up well and we’re still going strong. Of course, there is a lot of hard work involved during training and if you want to follow our efforts you can do so on the mobile app Strava - search Madeleine or Peter Jacobs.
Please donate as little or as much as you can to support this charity. We really appreciate any support you can give us!!
