Story

Hi,

Firstly 100% of all money raised will go to the charity. I have already paid for this trip myself.

In March of 2019 me and a friend of mine, Ben will be embarking on a 93 mile, 15 day trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp via the Gokyo lakes trail and crossing the Cho La Pass. People will be used to me asking for donations for various causes over the years when I've been running Tough Mudder events, but this is a challenge on a different level.

Many of you will know I've been up a few mountains in my time, but with the average altitude of this trek being 4100 meters its going to be a tough old walk. For all my Meribel friends, thats over 1300 meters higher than the peak of Saulire. My maximum altitude reached will be Kala Pattar which is 5545 meters. That's about 700 meters higher than Mont Blanc.

After the first few days trekking, things start to get a bit daft with a week of 'low' acclimatisation walks, before climbing to numerous locations including Gokyo Ri (5360m), Crossing Cho La Pass(5420m), Everest Base Camp (5364m) and Kala Pattar (5545m).

I've decided to raise money for this charity after their involvment with the Amethyst Unit at Grimsby Hospital. The Amethyst Unit has given care and support to a very good friend of mine, who some of you will know. They also help numerous other hospitals and people througout Lincolnshire.

This is a way to say thank you for all the work the guys in Amethyst do as well as helping numerous other people in and out of hospitals around North Lincolnshire.

For full details of the work The Health Tree Foundation do have a gander at their website.

As I've mentioned, this is going to be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to every minute of it. It seems silly sometimes to ask people to give donations when doing something so amazing, which will fill my head full of unbelievable sights and memories, and to have to opportunity to stand more than halfway up the greatest mass on the planet (I'd go to the top but I'm pretty sure my lack of mountaineering experience would be a hindrance. Also, the $40,000 price tag for an Everest ascent is a bit of a problem too, Maybe one day though) but I'd like to use this trip to make people aware of this charity and to the fact, especially for my Lincolnshire friends, that they may have supported or helped you, or someone you know without you knowing about it. Get your hand in your pocket, it's time to say thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you'd like to help me, help some people, help some other people, then give what you can.

Right, I better go do some training....
