Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Fareham Triathlon on Sunday 21st May to raise money for the Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards. The work they do is invaluable.
In March last year my step-nephew Oliver passed away suddenly aged just 22.
Olly enjoyed time working with the Portsmouth Lifeguards and used his advanced skills to save a young child’s life when he was working in New York in 2014.
I remember fondly when Olly learnt that I couldn’t actually swim, that was a source of amusement for him and it became my motivation to learn.
Although I am ‘only’ attempting the sprint distance (400m swim, 20k bike ride, 5.5k run) this is no mean feat for a novice swimmer with a dodgy knee and a shoulder still recovering from surgery.
My aim is just to finish in one piece and before the race marshals go home.
In memory of a fine young man who was much loved and is sorely missed by us all. All donations gratefully received
Wish me luck :)
