Story
On Sunday June 16th a group of our friends and family have volunteered to abseil from the top ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower, located at the Olympic Park London, which is the highest freefall abseil in the UK. We are raising funds for the charity Spread A Smile whose mission is to spread smiles to seriously ill children and teenagers in hospital. They provide entertainment including fairies, magicians, face-painters, singers, therapy dogs, children’s characters, celebrities and theatre visits. Please visit their website to see the good work they do:

Spread a Smile

Spread a Smile is here to add some joy where it’s needed most. By visiting some of London’s biggest hospitals, with magicians, artists, singers, poets, face-painters, fairies and therapy dogs.
We visit children aged 0-18 years old who are seriously and terminally ill and we ensure that we have an entertainer suitable for any age child that we see.
We also take whole families on amazing trips to concerts and theatres and we put on special events, like our winter party. All so the children can feel like children – not patients – for a short while.
We organise 21 hospital visits a month including our regular entertainer visits plus art workshops, ice cream drops and therapy dogs. This enables us to see over 6,000 young people reached every year.
We are proud to work with Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College Hospital, Royal London Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and the Evelina London. Our visits can lift a child’s spirits – giving them something to look forward to. A whole new positive focus.
We rely on voluntary donations to fund our important work as we receive no statutory funding.
