September 2011
Its been a few weeks now since I returned from Uganda. It was an amazing experience and I have lots to share with you. I will be updating this page soon with stories, pictures and videos. Watch this space!
Once again thank you for all your support in making the project a reality.
July 2011 Update:
Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
A big thank you to all who have sponsored and supported me so far. There is no way I could have achieved any bit of this without you- May God richly bless and reward your giving.
Am all confirmed to fly out to Uganda (Wakiso District) on the 16th of August- for four weeks!
Am so glad it's all come together. Am now working on my checklist: vaccinations, mosquito nets, clothing etc and buzzing with excitement. It will be a challenging but rewarding experience and I hope to have some fun and make new friends along the way. Am looking forward to the positive difference that I hope my role will bring to someone's life in Uganda.
I however still need to raise a bit more money as I have not quite reached my target of £1900.
Outlined in previous entry below are some of my key roles on the project and I will greatly appreciate any contribution you may have in supporting me to fulfil this worthy cause.
I plan to keep a diary whilst out in Uganda. I will of course be taking lots of photos and some video which I will share with you all on my return.
Please sponsor me and together, we can make a difference.
Many thanks and God bless.

..............................................................................................................
Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In 2011, I will be leaving the UK to volunteer on a HIV/AIDS development project (Chemquip Medical Laboratory Training School and Health Centre) in a village in Uganda.
Whilst out there, I will be working 35-40 hours per week. The aim of the project is to improve disease diagnosis and primary health care services, ultimately reducing morbidity and mortality in rural areas.
As a volunteer, I will be working with people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. My task and role will be:
· HIV/AIDS sensitization
· Nutrition advise
· Community public health
· Research on health challenges, community mobilization.
Of course on top of this, I will be helping out wherever needed, so probably clearing and cleaning as well!
I currently work for a UK HIV and sexual health charity and want to give up my time and share my skills and experience with this rewarding project in a developing country that is in need of my assistance. It is an exciting opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, to uplift the lives of the extremely poor and to support the work of a local community. Volunteers are valuable in keeping this service going and all the benefits of this volunteer programme go straight to the local community where it is needed most.
I will be working on this project through the international volunteer organisation, Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE). This is a well established charity that has been noted for its volunteer-exchange programmes by the UN and EU. Because ICYE is based on an exchange system, a small amount of the money I raise will also help a Ugandan volunteer work at a charity in the UK or one of the 34 countries ICYE is associated with.
To enable this to happen I will also be raising money through hosting a Jumble sale BBQ in July. So if you have any items you can do away with, please bring it along. You might also bag yourself a valuable item. There will be plenty of food and lots of fun activities such as a spacehopper-thon! Watch this space for more information.
If you think this is a worthy cause, or you just want to get rid of me for a while, please make your donation here. Every little bit helps and I thank you for your generosity in advance.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE-UK) Ltd gets the money directly through this site and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
