I run to beat cancer - my own - and in this case to raise some money for the work of a great little support centre which has been an important place for me these past few months.

No-one ever wants to hear the word's 'It's cancer'.  But, as many people who know me already know, I heard the words 'It's leukaemia' last autumn. I am immensely grateful to my consultant and her team at St George's Tooting, and am currently stable on treatment and want to do everything to stay that way.  That is what led me to Paul's' Centre.  It's all about well-being, and staying as well as you can be.  It's an amazing place, with lovely people who really make a difference. 

It's the sort of place you might never think about until you need support, and that's why I think it's important that the centre is there; ready and able to help all those who need it, when they need it. It's a small charity, and money goes on services - all of which are free, or heavily subsidised - for those affected by cancer, whether it's the person living with it, or their family, or their friends (I won't try to list all the things they offer - it's all on their website if you're interested)

I kept running right through all the time since diagnosis.  This is my first Half Marathon, and my aim is simply to get round.  Right now, I feel woefully unprepared, and have just seen that the long range weather forecast is freezing awful!
