Ugandaid have been involved in the village area of Nyenga for eleven years, and have constructed multiple latrines, local houses, brick houses, chicken coop, pig pen, protected water supply etc. for people who have been selected by the community themselves as needing support. Some members of the team have been to Jinja on numerous occasions and have built up close relationships with the community there, including Nile Vocational Institute (NVI), various schools and churches, Jinja Hospital, Macedonian Vision Africa (MVA), Gospel Cross and other organisations and individuals.

Primarily, UgandAid sponsor poor and vulnerable youngsters through vocational training, and so giving them the opportunity to provide for themselves. The students are predominately orphans from HIV and AIDS, and the previous civil war in the country.

Within RSK Group, Emily Wilkinson (RSK Landscape), Linda York (RSK Geosciences), Nick Thornton (RSK Up and Under Group) and myself (RSK Acoustics) will be joining the UgandAid team in Uganda on 10th February 2020 for two weeks to support their work with the project!. We will be visiting NIV and the students, helping with a revamp of their workshops and providing welcome packs of pens, books and toiletries to new students. Furthermore, we will be engaged in projects within the town of Jinja (and adjacent suburbs and villages) with the intention of providing help to the local communities. Most of the work is likely to be of a basic manual nature, such as cleaning, painting; improving facilities for the education of students at Nile Vocational Institute, etc.

We ask if you could all help and give some funds to the village community project and students of NIV. It only needs to be a small amount, but hopefully together we can raise a significant amount for them. ALL the funds raised will be taken out to Uganda with us to fund the 2020 community facility project and support students at NVI.
