Story

We did it ...

Slightly cooler than last year .... Rach even wore a woolly hat! .... but we managed a new record (for us!) completing the walk in 3 hours 7 minutes :-)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page :-)

What are we doing?
We are joining over 1,000 other women to "Walk with the Stars" at midnight on Saturday 19th June 2010.

We will be walking from Hemel Hempstead School to Berkhamsted Sports Centre .... and all the way back again, a total of 12 miles!

Why are we doing this?
All the money we raise will go to support the Hospice of St Francis (where Rach volunteers). The Hospice has to raise in excess of £3 million every year just to keep their doors open, and they receive only 19% of their running costs from the NHS. This money is vital to the ongoing care that the Hospice of St Francis gives to local men and women with life limiting illnesses.

The money you help us raise will help the Hospice as follows:

• £30 will pay for 12 smoothie drinks for patients with poor appetites.
• £50 will pay for a tank of petrol, keeping our specialist home care nurses on the road for 2 weeks.
• £100 will pay for one nurse’s 7.5-hour shift on our In Patient Unit.
• £150 will pay for a 6-week course of therapy for a child coping with the loss of a loved one.
• £300 will pay for 3 home visits by our specialist home care nurses.
• £500 will pay for a full morning shift of nurses on our In Patient Unit.
• £1,000 will pay for a syringe driver used to administer medicine to patients.

Remember every pound you help us raise will go towards helping The Hospice of St Francis care for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses. So….please help us raise as much as you can!

How can I help?
All donations will be gratefully received.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
