Story

William was diagnosed with Gaucher Disease in October 2017. It is an incredibly rare, inherited, metabolic disease. To treat it, he has a fortnightly infusion of the enzyme his body lacks. Having a cannula and a drip once a fortnight has taken some getting used to for him. He couldn't understand why he was the only one of his friends who needed this.
There are only 28 children in the UK with Gaucher Disease and a huge part of the Gaucher Association's work is to bring together this community.

Through them, William has met Tommy. Having a friend with Gaucher Disease has meant everything to Will. His treatments are more straightforward because he knows Tommy is having the same. He hasn't questioned why him, since meeting Tommy, as he knows he isn't alone.

I couldn't have guessed the significance of such a simple act, but it has improved William's life and treatment phenomenally. Thank you GA
