Story

The time's nearly arrived.

The country is set.

By the 12th of September,

I'll be off in a jet.

My jabs are all done.

Though not an item packed.

Should I bring my guitar?

My harness? My bike rack?

Best to make haste

Soon I'll be touching down.

In Addis Ababa,

the capital town

of Ethiopia

where the ark is concealed

If discovered and opened

Moses' 10 C's revealed

I'll make my way south

to bustling Jimma

I'll say 'Fiqir Bandinet,'

meaning 'one love' in Rusta.

Jimma will be my home

'til 2012

With an open mind into

the culture I'll delve.

New ideas and new ways

a new perspective.

It will help me grow,

make me be more reflective

Note though now

the exchange is two-ways

I'll be sharing my teaching

with a vision to raise

literacy rates

therefore opportunity

education brings energy

to the community

so help me out

make a donation

what goes around comes around

help build the aspiration.

Ok, peoples, give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever. (Does anyone know the Arrested Development version... yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, give a man a fish... )

Teaching is what i'm intending to do, but I need your help: not to find out how to fish, but to raise some money in order to cover costs!

In September this year, I will be heading to Ethiopia  for 2 years to exchange knowledge and skills in education Many teachers there do not have qualifications, work in over-sized classrooms and have few resources.

VSO (Volunteer Services Organisation) is sending me, a very professional young lass, with all her experiences from Oz and UK and a 4-year degree, to help children and adults gain access to education, improve their life opportunities and fight ........for their rights .......to part- .... NO to end poverty.

Imagine all the people, living life in p-.... education means understanding your world better, therefore functioning better within it.  It means access to the world of the literate. It means opportunity to communicate on an international level.  It means opportunity for better jobs and better pay.

How many farmers does it take to change a light-bulb?  Who cares?  It takes only one qualified professional to change a whole community.

That's right, from little things, big things grow, so dig deep and help me reach my £900 target and help improve the quality of life of the community of Jimma, Ethiopia.
