Story
What have I gone and done? In October of 2018, I sat with my finger hovering over the send button. Click! I've done it. I've just entered the Inverness Half marathon. I must be mad. My last half marathon was in 2010! So why put myself through the madness again, at the age of 45?
The reason is quiet simple really. In January of last year, a team of 14, plus myself, went out to Kyenjojo in Uganda. Fountain of Peace is a charity which was set up to help vulnerable babies, have a better start in life. FOP, provides a home for 40 babies, at present, in The Bethel Babies' home. They may have been orphaned, abandoned or simply the parents cannot look after them. As they get older, they move into family bungalows, where they are looked after by "a housemother". Here we spent two weeks, doing everything we could to help the charity, from painting rooms, painting the classrooms at the newly built school, harvesting corn, lots of baby cuddles, to telling people about Jesus. It was a truly amazing experience. Like any charity though, there are ongoing costs that need to be met. Maintenance of property, food, clothing, medical treatment etc.
This is my motivation to running the Half marathon. To help these children have the best start in life physically, mentally and emotionally but also that we get to share the love of Jesus with them too😄
One day soon, I hope to return with my family, to see the ongoing results of everyone's hardwork and giving.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story😁
